In replying to the question of bringing men from other places to work at Waikakahi, the Minister for Public Works said fihat he failed to agree with? the member for Waitaki. that in all cases local men should have all the work. He said th at this matter s h ould be looked at from a broad point of view. Before men had been seat to Waikakahi, from afar, Waimate men had been" sent to woik at other places. He thought that in this case Wairnat* unemployed had been considered.
