Hospital Board.

At the meeting of the South Canterbury Hospital Board on Tuesday, tho the chairman submitted a draft report on the inqury held at the previous meeting, into * complaint alleged to have been marlo by the nursing staff against the medical staff, and another by the medical staff against the house stewaid, ot having instigated the making of the complaint in a manner they considered insulting to them. The Chairman's statement was amended in one paragraph, and adopted. It stated that the nurses had reasen to complain, and that the steward com nutted an eiror of ludgement in ordering the complaint to be entered in the foimin which it appeared, but that he did not intend it to be offensive or insulting. A motion to dispense with the services of the steward and matron and substitute a matron only, the Board having decided to appoint a resident suigeon. was lost by five votes to three. The Chan man stated that two of three certificated nurses had resigned for the purpose of establishing a private hofedital. During the discussion several members considered that the steward and matron's salary should be reduced, but this question wab held over. The Board will meet ne\t on August Bth, to receive applications for the post of resident surgeon, and take any other business, this special meeting to 1 take the place of the ordinary meeting for the month. A request from the "VVaimate HosI pital Trustees for funds , had been dealt with by the chairman.
