> Sheep-. — There were 1767 entries this ■we^k. there.bemg about 350 less than the previous sale. The prices, although Jngher in the main, cannot be said to indicate a rise in the market. The priMieat of wethers, which were too fat for •breezing, fetched 18s, whilst the remainder
ran fiom 14s 9d to 16s, ewes ran from 9s 3d to 12s 6d, and the lighter sorts, of which theie weie veiy few, weie from 9s to 10&. Lambs.— s34 were yarded, as against 700 last week, and the pi ices showed a rise of about Is a head all round. The picks fetched 14s 9d, whilst the lemainder weie sold iiom 10s to 12s. Pigs. - The entiies weie again less, the number being 78 as against 100 last week. All stoics, small slips and suckers were in great demand and any selleis should at once send foiwaid their stock, as they will meet with a leady sale at good prices Suckers 13& to 16s, slips 19s to 20s, stoics 25s to 80s, poikeis 34& to 465, lujht bneoneis 34s to 48s, heavy baconeis 3§sto 565, anil a few very piime pigs fetched £3. Cattle.— There were 246 head yarded as against 236 for last week, notwithstanding that the quality of the beasts was distinctly ahead of that of last week, there was an all round drop of nearly ]f>s a head. Infcuor beasts also fell in piice, and butchers could hardly bepeisuaded to look at some of them. Messis D. Iteid and Co. obtained £8 2s 6d each for a pair of piime bullocks, but the average price did not lange higher thnn £5 5s to £6 15s. Lighter bullocks fetched from £2 10s to £4 ss. The highest price lealised for cows was £5 10s, the remainder fetching from £2 to £4 ss.
