At the special meeting of the Education Boird in Tiniani yesterday a caiisidor.able aniouat of business was transacted, though still the whole con ' tents of the ngatida papp-r were not overtaken. A number of grants for repuns and iinpro\euaeuts of all sorts Were made, including expenditure at Winchester South, Oravi, Ivakahu Bush and Upper Otaia, the latter place btiing granted a new kitchen range. The RoV' Mr Comrie, it wa% announced, is shortly to vacate his seat on the Board, leaving a . vacancy to be filled in the ordinary way, i.e., by. elecfidn'on the part of the •various school committees. The Inspector a'nd the Hey. G. Barclay,were appointed as the Board's representatives at the forthcoming Education Conference, to be held in Wei hngton next month. Two deputations were heard, one from Claudeboye re eueetioa of school premises, and one from Pleasant Point re certain improvements to baiidlngs.
