Atter they liad got the ends together they had luiieii trouble, and they slipped several times, lie states that when the vesstl was picked up everything was working smoothly. The engineers were of opinion that they vsoiudhave had no difficulty m leaching port, and were greatly disappointed at being picked up alter having had so mucii trouble in iKing up the broken p.ut&. While the repa rs weie pioceedmg the engineer had bcarcely two hours 1 sleep a day, and baiely took time, to eat their meals. Ihey considered that it therepa,ns had been taken in hand at iirst, instead bi wailing ior steamers, they would have been finished by ALiy y.
