Makikihi. (BY OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

TVe have been having exceptionally fine weather this week, with sharpfrosts at night, and as it now seems to be settled, we hope the clerk of theweather will bo kind enough to keep iton the hooks lor another month or twa. Ploughs are to be seen at work agaia all round the district, and farmers are hoping to be able to sow some waiter" wheat before long. Some, no doubt/ who have the land ready, are sowing now but those are exceptions. Thd threshing machines have been hard at work all this week and must have put a lob of stuft through, although Ihoy mast still find it slow work to shut about, the ground not being very firm? yefc.s A few of the roads about here are in a very bad state, but we hope to have them repiired shortly, tho County Council having taken the mattor in hand. There was a good attendance at the entertainment given by Messrs Huston Brothers ou Tuesday night and the audience was well pleased with tho programme. The Hoj al Biograph* exhibited by them was very interesting, but hardly as good as the well known Kinema.togr.tph. The pictures-sbown by the former have too much of a haze over them and quiver too much, to bo distinct. Auoih ir new intention, , the Microphone, shown here for- fche\ first tirue, has more to recommend it. It is a great improvement 6n the; Gramaphon.B, being louder, 'truer, -and] sweei er in the, sounds it emio>.
