THE ZEEHAN OUTRAGE.
The Hobart papars give clefcaila of the explosion of a train qngiue boiler on the morning of the l6tli M&A 1 , in the Zeehan station yard, resulting in the death of the engine-driver (David BidtluJph) and the fireman (Thomas Marra). ' A recent cable stated that a board of experts had come to the conclusion that some explosive had been Jrat in the boiler. The train, which consisted , of three trucks of goods, a first-class and a *econd-clfisB cariuge, drawn by a new And powerful engine, left ZeVhan station a few minutes after seven, and Was within GOyds of the Wilson' street Waiting l'ooin, at the other eind of the station yard, when the explosion ocfcured. The force of the *%h&iq --lifted the boiler, which weighed about six tons, in one piece, more, than 100 ft into the air, and propelled it in an almost straight line for a distance ot fully $00yd9, When it fell, just missing a semaphore and snapping a telephone wire. The huge projectile striick the ground with »uch force as to tear a hole about 4it deep and 10ft in diameter, then bounded upwards again, and Cesumed its course for about 50 yards, feud, striking the earth once more, finally embedded its end in the soil and canie to a standstill, emitting \oldmes of fateam. The side plates and other portions of the engine wore scattered all round, the Jeast damaged part being the smoke-tunnel, winch was standrng £rect. The rails of the line were berit ftud broken, aud a large hole IB inches deep torn into the hard ground beloW. The truck next to the eii&ine was dashed and badly broken by the rebound of the engine. Fortunately, throe heavy trucits Wwe between the fengme and the hrst carnage, so that beyond fi shaking Ihe passengers Were hmnjured.
