■ The usual miouthly meeting a of the above was held on Tuesday evening present : — Messrs Hamilton (ehalc).,Rev. McKenzie Gibsop Cameion,' ' Nicol, Mathias, Taylor and Scott (Sec,) The -headmaster was also present. Mr S. Boieham wrote expressing l the opinion, that the publication of a, balance sheet in connt-ctipn with' the ' purchase of' the school flag, was desirable. ■ • < ' Mr Taylor explained that Mr, Petit who had gone to all the trouble of coir lecting subscriptions for the, flng fund, had laid a baltnce sheet before the committee and thoy were perfectly satisfied with it. After some discussion • it wa,s -finally moved and carried- that any subscriber desiring wore -information,'be referred to Mr Petit, who had expressed himself willing to supply all information requested. < The Inspector had made his surprise} ■ yisit during the month, 'and reported.;, that the tone r of theschool was >yery ' good, and thai the school and- grounds were in excellent order. v • , J • - .The -headmaster's, report- showed '» ■ftnaf^hVrbH-Jfifmin^W'-Ws 4§Jv l aad.'.the • • 878.' , However, -the at-, tendance was rapidly improving, • 417? childven having attended that day. < ' Owing, to the .falling attendance, the. ■ services Of Mr- W. The attention of the Board < \vaß, v to be called to the fact that the attend- < ance was now over "the required ayer-' ' age, aud if this continued tor ,a week, ■ the committee were to ask the Board " to reinstate Mr Thomas at nominal ' salary* They also decided to 'point out ( to the Board that the truant officer was not doing his duty. The Eoard were to be asked .to make the necessary repairs to the school during the ; winter holidays, and to ' inform the ' committee of the, time limit, --and. gen- • era} conditions of the contract. -The - time wss to be limited'to a fortnight. It was decided to take down the old swings, and use them for firewood. ' The chairman reported having received tenders for firewood, and to j having accepted that of T, Hoare at i , mixed wood 14/- per cord, and blackpine, 23/-. The chairman's action was ' approved. ■> " The visitors reported- > everything ' satisfactory except the quality- of tha ' firewood, and the. chairman-i s -to re- ?■>■ quest that better wood. be supplied.
