Bishop Julius' Terrific Chasm but a shadow.
In a recent speech, a repoit of which appeared in this column last week, Bishop Julius referred to a "tenific «hasm " separating him from the Prohibitionists. From his later utterances ( as reported in the large daily papeis ) we find that as light has poured in upon the Bishop the tenific chasm, emerging from the shadow of misunderstanding, has proved but a paltry ditch over which his lordship has stepped, and now finds himself on almost a level with the advocates of no liccnsp, If we follow the advice of Ruskin to seek only for the points on which we ngree with other workers for good, we find that after all, the " great gulf " of which the Bishop speaks, as still between him and the Prohibitionists iB mainly a shadow. Every Piohibitionist agrees with His Lordship that moral suasion is disappointing, that
