The ordinary meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening ; piesent — His Worship the Ma\or (Dr B;ucla\), and Councillors Collett, Jones, Pelit, Mann, Cameron, Inkster. and Coltman. From Mr F.Hughes, asking to hi\e his name reino\ed from the 1 oil ai ocmpier of premises in Queen street. — Granted. From the Depaitmont of Agnculture stating that the Government would have dames inspected by its own appointees. — Received. From Mi S. Boroham, asking the Council to ha\e public meetings held to consider the question of petitioning the Government to acquire more land for settleuuMit m the Waimale distiict — - Matter left in the hands of the Mayor. Fiom Star C) cling Club, asking if the Conncil would sell its shave in the racing tiack, Victoria Park. They had a large membership roll and felt confident of being able to help to keep the track in condition. Courcillor Coltman said it was absurd to ask ha Council to sell its inteiest. The Club ought to offer a fifth part of the original cost, and participate with other societ es in the benefits. These other societ es would need to be consulted.
