The Trouble in Samoa.
The imbroglio caused by the action of Pr Rafftil, a representative of the German Go\ eminent, in reference to the succession to the throne of Samoa does not appear to be much nearer settlement. As our readers are aware, the Sainoan Islands are ruled bv a native king, under the loint control of Britain, America and Germany. ])r Eaffel has been dismissed by the German Government and his action repudiated, but the natives are now divided on the question of a king through his action. As there were prospects of troops being required to settle the disturbance, the New Zealand Government on Good Friflay morning made a.n offer, by cable, to the Imperial authorities, of the use of the Tutanekai in connection with the tiouble in Samoa, and also to send, under the command of Colonel Pole-Penton, a contingent of the Permanent Artillery and Volunteers, to the number of 500. The steamer Mildura and the Government steamer Tutanekai are being held in readiness to convey the troops to Sanio'i should the Imperial authorities accept the New Zealand Government's offer. It is not hkelv, however, that the offer will be accepted. It is asseited that acknowdge11 lent of it has been received, but nothing definite has been done, as the members of the British Cabinet aie scattered about dming the Easter holidays.
