Board of Education.
From the Herald's report of the meeting of the South Canterbury Board of Education, held on Wednesday last, we take the following items of interest to Waimate district. For the position of first assistant (extra) in Waimate District High School there were six applications. Four names were selected to be sent to the Committee. Mr. Howell was appointed as the Board's representative on the Waimate High School Bqard of Governors. Hannaton "wrote urging the sinking of a well, the rain-water supply being most unsatisfactory owing to the fouling of the roofs and piping by birds, Mr Jieddje safd a well would cost a lot of money as the school stands on a hill. It was also remarked that thousands of settlers haye only concrete tanks and rain water, as the school has. Mr Barclay to confer with the committee and report.
