Makikihi, and Waituna, and when all were assembled, made quite a larg« gathering. After scrambling through the bush and indulging in variau* games, it was pleasant to hear the cal to tea, which was laid in a sheltered nook near the river. Great credit is due to the School Committee and ladies of Hook for making arrangements and thanks are due to Mr Andrews for the use of hip field. It was one of the most enjoyable school picnics ever held at Hook.
The annual treat of the Hook qohool yras'hejd in Mr Andrew's' bush on Wednesday January 4th- ' Althougk the qlauda threatened rain ih tye morning, it proved perfect weather. 1 After lunch all a» : sernbled on the racing ground where the committee were kept busy for the rest of the afternoon, hahdipapping and smarting! The prized w^re given in the form of money. T\\e erente of the day ivere tha tug-of-war and tiie boys 1 walking raee r ,' the former creating^ great deal of amusement.
