SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the above was held on T.uei»' day evening in the school ; present— Messrs Taylor, (chair) Mann, Bitcheaer, Nicol, Sinclair, Cameron, Petit, Watts, B. E. Jones and the Headmaster. Correspondence was read from the Inspector which showed that only five in the school had failed out of 228 present. From the secretary High Sohool Board of Governors, forwarding copies of resolution* passed at the combined meeting of the Committee and Board re the cadet corps for the school, A good deal of discussion took place and ultimately it was resolved " That it is desirable that a cadet corps be formed in connection with the school, provided money and boys art available." It was resolved that further discussion b# postponed till after the school meets. From the Headmaster forwarding £14 12b 6d, as proceeds of the concert. A hearty vote of thanks was pasted to alt who had assisted in the concert. With regard to the school holiday* it was resolved to break up on the 16th December for six week*. Mr Petj.t moved and Mr Sinclair seconded " That the ceremony take place in the Oddfellows' Hall and that a children's entertain ment be held as was done last year. It wat proposed by Mr Mann seconded by Mr Watts as a,n amendment that the ceremony take place on the afternoon of the 16th in the school grounds or school as ciroumstanocfi might determine. The amendment was lost and the motion earned. ' It was resolyed that Mrs Studholme b« asked to present the prices, also that Mr* Dowle and Misses Spaldmg and Fairhurn b« asked to judge the sewing. Ijj was decided that an invitatiqn be given by advertisment to all friends to be present, no special invitations to be sent, The sum of 30s was passed to the caretaker for extra cleaning wh«n taking charge of th« school. r '„,:■ It "was stated that the Inspector and other* had spoken about the, extreme cleanliness of the school buildings and grounds.
