The Modsrator snid that no provision was nifidj in the Book of Order for such voting. lie believed proxy voting had boen allowed in some congiegatious but in deference to what was evidently .tlw fooling of the present meeting he would rule flgaiust such volhig and ptoxios would not bo allowed. Ko were made for or against candidates, but Mr Wiu. Allan, elder, bnotly addressed the meeting emphasizing the importance of the action about to be taken and the 'duty of a minority cheerfully giving way to the majority in the belief that all had the inteiests of the church at heart. Messrs J. McTaggart and M. Smith, elders, were appointed to superintend the ballot, and Messrs H. E. McGowan and W. Coltman to act as scrutineers. The result of the ballot was as follows :
As Mr Morrison had a majority of all tho vot^s cast it was not necessary to take a second ballot and a show was taken for and against Mr Mornson, a large number bong hold up for and none against, many not voting either way. It was then intimated that Mr Morrisons name would be sent by 'the Session to the Presbytery, after which the call would be placed for signature at the different preaching stations. 'A -vote of thanks to tho chairman and the benediction brought the meeting to a close. The proceedings throughout were marked by tha very best spirit.
