HOSPITAL BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above was held on Wednesday in the County Council Chambers ; present— Messrs Coltman, Atwill, Petit, Nicol, Lyall and Dr Barclay. Apologies were received from Messrs Douglas, Sinclair and Hertslett. In the absence of Mr Douglas, Mr Coltman was voted to the chair. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. The surgeon's report showed that 16 males and 6 females had been treated during the month and 7 males and 3 females discharged, leaving 9 males and 3 females still under treatment. The matron's report was read. Mr Coltman reported that the Central Board had met on Tuesday and received the demand of the Trustees and before considering the question of paying money they had appointed the Trustees as a committee to act for the Central Board until the position was settled. The whola amount, he understood, had been passed, but only £100 had been £ent down. He gathered that as soon as the election for Trustees had taken place they would be recognised as such. Correspondence was read from the Prer mier and from the member for the district , re the Separate Institutions Bill. The latter regretted the Bill had not passed, but said he had made every endeavour to ' t get it passed. From the Borough Council, appointing His Worship the Mayor to represent that, body on the Waimate Hospital Board. Dr Barclay drew attention to the fact that the hospital kitchen required linoleum. The chairman objected to any more expenditure for the next few months. This matter had been gone into at last meeting, and they would have to cut th'ngs very fine. Matter held over. The visitors' report showed that only a certain' amount of potatoes had been put ' in on account of the wet weather and the 'bad state of the ground. The inside of the hospital wanted overhauling. 7 ,» Messrs Sinclair "and' .Atwill were' appointed visitors for the month. , ' Accounts 'amounting to JG69 15a lOd were passed and the meeting ended.
