LIBRARY COMMITTEE.
Correspondence was lead from several booksellers re new books. It was resolved that new books in hand be put into circulation immediately. Accounts amounting to .£9 13s were passed and the meeting ended.
A meeting of the above was held on Monday evening ; present — Messrs Hamilton, Scott, M'K. Gibson, O'Connor, Mann, and Dean .(sec). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. r Mr Hamilton reported that he had made enquiries re possibilities of sale of the Library buildings, and had found that the Borough Council could sell, as provided by the Act. The Council would have to be approached on the matter before steps could be taken. A great deal of discussion took place. Some members favoured the selling of the building, recouping the Borough Council and erecting a new building. Others thought that the Library needed new books more "than a new building. There was also a possibility of the present buildings and' site becoming very valuable in a few yeai's. A bazaar was mentioned as a probable source of income. The matter then dropped. - ' ' , '
