Hospital Board.

A special meeting of the above was held on Monday afternoon; present — Messrs Douglas (chair), Coltman, Sinclair, Petit, Atwill and Dr Barclay, Mr Hamilton, the Board's solicitor, was also present. The opinion obtained from Mr Bell, of Wellington, was read. He considered that the Trustees were properly constituted, but thought ', with Messrs Perry, Perry and Kinnerney that i the Trustees we not entitled to the money lequisitioned for building purposes. The chairman said Mr Bell was clear that ..if „ the. Waimate Hospital Trustees . wanted money for building purposes they would hay« to »pply to the local contributing bodies. The best thing was to send Mr Bell's opinion to ih« Timaru Board and if they did not

accept it, Mr Coltm&n should ask them to procure another outside opinion. A letter was read from Major Steward, saying that it would be impossible to get a Separation Bill passed, unless the ■ assistance of the Government was gained. , He thought it would be well to send a deputation ' to Wellington, after consulting the Timaru authorities. Ultimately after much dicussion it was moved by Mr Sinclair, seconded by Mr Ooltnian and carried: — "That this Board, having got Mr Bell's opinion on the matter in dispute, is satisfied with such opinion and will stand by the same." - - j A. copy of the opinion .was given -to Mr Coltman to layjbefore th^ Board, onl Tuesday. * The meeting then ended.
