West Coast Times Office, Saturday Evening. The amount of import duty collected at the Custom Hoasc to-day was L 216 4s Id. The following list of merchandise cleared shows ils distribution : —
Duty on Ezpohts. Gold £312 10 0 Representing 25200zs of gold cleared at the Custom-house.
We have no transactions to note in tho import market fo» - the week. There has been no additions to stocks, two Melbourne traders only having reached the wharf, and not yet discharged. Business has been all but suspended, to allow the usual seasonable alternative. There is no alteration in value of staples, flour remaining firm at last quotations, cereals gcneially maintaining rsitcs ; further improvements in prices are looked forward to.
