The promoters of this undertaking have 3en for some considerable period engaged l bringing together certain reliable inforlation, and a collection of facts founded pon personal experience obtained by irect intercourse wj^jhe natives of the iland. Arrangements have been made with a rentleman who is well acquainted witli le manners and customs of the natives (vho has seen Gold in its virgin state in lieir hands) to acccompany the expeition. Several leading Gentlemen of well:nown public enterprise in New Zealand Victoria, and New South Wales, have Letermined upon throwing in their influnee and enter into the project, and thai oo from a cqnvjetion of the riches and irosperity which they feel assured awaii he courageous adventurers who should irst succeed in establishing friendly negO' siations with the natives, who it is well mown are favorably disposed to Europeans generally in preference to the Dutch Malays, and Chinese, who have visited ;heir coast for the purpose of trading ir 3rold, Precious Stones, and many othei raluable 'products . The immediate object of the Companj is to enrol a certain number of respectable md well known colonists wishing to CO' sperate for the purpose of honorably, and by perfectly legitimate negotiations tc effect a scheme of Colonisation, Explora^ tion, Settlement, and working the Mines of Gold known to exist. From the numerous applications already received from parties residing in Nevi Zealand, and adjoining colonies who arc desirous of becoming members of the ex pedition so soon as the preliminary ar rangements are completed. The promo ters have every confidence in bringing before the notice of .their felloe colonists the desirability of adopting im mediate measures to secure the object ii view, and they feel it incumbent on then to urge prompt action, as, however numerous applications may be, the num ber of 300 Members will be the limit t( which the expedition will be confined. In order to secure the most eligiblt members, applicants only of known chara ter and respectability will be selected bj the Board of Directors nominated for tha purpose. The principal upon which the Com pany is formed is ireely co-operative, and for the purpose of effecting a peacefu subjugation of the inhabitants of the Is land, as distinguished from that of associa tions professing to accomplish similar ob 1 jects by coercive and unlawful means, ai the same time every necessary precautioi for the protection of the intending Colon ists will be taken against conspiracy oi treachery ; the promoters have secured the services of twelve natives of an ad jacent island to accompany the party ; anc each member will be provided with a re volver and double barrel gun. The Company will also be under the immediate auspices and protection of Hej Majesty's Government, and so far as the acts of the colonists are honorable thei] rights and liberties will be upheld. A duly qualified Surgeon, a Civi Engineer, Surveyor, a Geologist, Natura list, and Botanist will accompany the Ex pedition, while the general comfort anc safety of all parties concerned will b< carefiilly provided for. A deposit of Ten pounds (L 10) to ac company each application to join the Ex pedition, the balance to be paid as soon a! arrangements are completed, of which dii( notice will be given.
