SmiLhers, Esq., Revell street. The promoters of this undertaking have been for some considerable period engaged in bringing together certain reliable information, and a collection of facts founded upon personal experience obtained by direct intercourse with the natives of the island. Arrangements have been made with a Gentleman who is well acquainted with the manners and customs of the natives (who has seen Gold in its virgin state in their hands) to acccompany the expedition. Several leading Gentlemen of wellknown public enterprise in New Zealand, Victoria, and New South Wales, have determined upon throwing in their influence and enter into the project, and that too from a conviction of the riches and. prosperity which they feel assured await the courageous adventurers who should first succeed in establishing friendly negociations with the .natives, who it is well known are favorably disposed to Europeans generally in preference to the Dutch, Malays, and Chinese, who have visited tbeir coast for the purpose of trading in Gold, Precious Stones, and many other valuable . The immediate object of the Company is to enrol a certain number of respectable and well known colonists wishing to cooperate for the purpose of honorably, and by perfectly legitimate negociations to effect a scheme of Colonisation, Exploration, Settlement, and working the Mines of Gold known to exist. From the numerous applications already received from parties residing in New Zealand, and adjoining colonies who are desirous of becoming members of the expedition so soon as the preliminary arrangements are completed. The promoters have every confidence in bringing before the notice of their fellow colonists the desirability of adopting immediate measures to secure the object in view, and they feel it incumbent on them to urge prompt action, as, however, numerous applications may be, the number of 300 Members -will be the limit to which the expedition will be confined. In order to secure the most eligible members, applicants only of known charater and respectability will be selected by the Board of Directors nominated for that purpose. The principal upon which the Company is formed is ircely co-operative, and for the purpose of effecting a peaceful subjugation of the inhabitants of the Island, as distinguished from that of associations professing to accomplish similar objects by coercive and unlawful means, at the same time every necessary precaution for the protection of the intending Colonists will be taken against conspiracy or treachery jf the promoters have secured the services of twelve natives of an adjacent island to accompany the party ; and each member will be provided with a revolver and double barrel gun. The Company Avill a'so be under the immediate auspices and protection of Her Majesty's Government, and so far as the acts of the colonists are honorable their rights and liberties will be upheld. A duly qualified Surgeon, a Civil Engineer, Surveyor, a Geologist, Naturalist, and Botanist will accompany the Expedition, while the general comfort aud safety of all parties concerned will be carefully provided for. A deposit of Ten pounds (L 10) to accompany each application to join the Expedition, the balance to be paid as soon as arrangements are completed, of which due notice will be gireo.
