Westland County Handicap, of 200 soys, open to all horses, two miles and a distance. Nomination, with 3 soys only, to be made on night of general entry. Handicap weights will be made and declared at the Empire Hotel, at 9 p.m. on the first day of running, so as to allow the stewards an opportunity of rating the merits of the horses during same day's running. Acceptance, with 10 sovn, must be sent in to the Stewards, at the Empire Hotel, by 11 o'clock p.m. same night. Tbotting Distance Handicap, of 30 soys, open to all horses, welter weight for age. Three miles. Entrance, 3 soys. Ladies' Pubse, of 50 soys, open to all horses. Gentlemen riders. Welter weights. One mile and a half. Entrance, 5 soys. Butchebs' Pubse, of 30 soys. Heats. For horses the bona fide property, previous to the 9th November, of retail butchers on the West Coast. Distance, three quarters of a mile. Weight for age. Entrance, 3 sors. Huhdle Handicap, of 100 soys, open to all horses. Three miles. Nominations, with 3 soys, to bn made on night of general entry. Weights to be made and declared on night of first day's running, as for Westland County Handicap, and acceptance, of 7 soys, also under same conditions as Westland County Handicap. The rules of the Canterbury Jockey Club will be enforced, unless when otherwise specified. 2. Mares and Geldings allowed 3 lbs, but no Maiden allowance. 3. All entries and nominations to be handed to the Stewards, at Osborne's Empire Hotel, previous to 9 p.m. on 23rd December. 4. All entries must be in writing, specifying age, and description of horse, and color of rider; and contain requisite entrance money. 5. All horses must be ridden in colors. 6. In all matters connected with the races, or any disputes, the decision of the Stewards to be final. 7. Any dogs on the Course will be destroyed. 8. All Stakes paid less 5 per cent. 9. A qualification fee must be paid by eafih owner that enters, or nominates a horse or horses, on the following scale, viz., for one or more events, under 50, soys, 2 soys; for 50 soys, 3 soys ; for 100 soys or over, 4 soys. But the said fees not to be accumulative. Subscribers of 4 or more soys, arc not required to pay any fee for qualificatiou. N.B. In case of unfavorable weather, the Stewards have the power to postpone the races from day to day, whether the meeting be absolutely commenced or not. Richabd Reeves, Secretary. P.S.
