The "Daily Times," of fche 23rd instant, says : — Business remains tolerably steady ; but owing to the unsettled state of tho weather possesses but little briskness. In the import market there has been but little to note. A few hemp goods have been placed, aud now that prices have become more settled, sugars are r>ot quite so dull. In liquids transactions have been light; but spirits, particularly brandies, ai*e afc firm vsilues. The tens ex Rubicon were offered today afc Messrs. M'Landress, Hepburn aud Co.'s rooms. About one-third of the larger packages were placed, and the major part of the small packages. Srrall lots of fine oongoas were placed afc 2s 4d ; lines of fair medium afc Is 10 £ dto Is ll£d ; good ordinary, Is 6d. Values current previous to the sale were fully maintained, and a shade of improvement observable on some qualities.
