There appears to be an unusual vitality amongst the insect tribe in Victoria this season. Sandflies, of a most venomous kind, 0^ haye especially abounded, and all but rend ered several parts of the country uninhabitable. Writing upon tlie subject the " Avus" says :— " The plague of sandflies continues to occasion great annoyance to the people around Heathcote, and still more to their cattle.
