QUEENSLAND.
(I'ROM THE COUEIEH, SEPT. 28.) Mr J. G. Wheeler.— We have to record the sudden death of Mr J. G. Wheeler, clerk of petty sessions, Springsure, who expired at that township suddenly on the 16th inst., from disease of the heart. Tho deceased had been at various times connected with the press of Queensland and of thc.jicighboriug colonies. He was special for a Geelong journal at the time of the Ballarat riots, aud he subsequently for a long time followed the profession of journalism at Bathurst, being connected hoth with tho " Free Press" and "Times," at difforent periods of his career. For ov,er'threo years he followed the pursuit of journalism in Queensland, being attached in the first instance to the staff of the" Courier," and subsequently to that of the " North Australian." He afterwards entered the Government service, in which ho remained up to the time of his death. He was well known, and generally esteemed and respected, both in Brisbane and Ipswich.
