MR. J. HYDE HARRIS.

TO THE EDITOR OV THE WEST COAST TIMES. SIR — At the nomination for Mayor yesterday, Mr Gilles is reported to have said, "look at Dunedin, where John Hyde Harris, a solicitor, had so ably filled the office of Mayor." I, being a ratepayer, not only here but also in Dunedin, would be much obliged if Mr Gilles would inform me when John Hyde Harris returned to Dunedin from Wellington, or, if not returned, whether the being solicitor enables a man to be in one town and fill the office of Mayor so ably for another, because if so, by all means vote for a solicitor. Yours, &c, A Ratepayer.
