VICTORIA.
The " Melbourne Argus" of the 23rd ult. reports : — In the import markets business has notbeen characterised, by much activity. In breadstuffs we note continued firmness in flour. Sales of Victorian have been made in parcels at Lll ss, and smaller lots have been disposed of at Lll 10s. There has also been more inquiry for wheat, and were any parcels offering, sale 3 could very readily be effected at 4s 9d to 4s lOd for good samples of Tictorian. Oats have improved slightly in value, and may now be quoted 3s 7d to 2s lOd. Candles meet with purchasers at lid, sales being readily made at tins figure, and there are no sellers under that price. In tobaccos we note inquiries for Southern twists, sound qualities are more wanted. Sales huve been made at up to Is 6d. 3?ine sampled of currants are wanted, and for such 4d had to bo paid to enable purchases to be made. ]n liquids, sales of Renault's case brandy are brought under our notice at 225. Tho demand for geneva having very much slackened, the business now done is limited to the disposal of small parcels ; 10s 3d to 10s 6d is required, and has been obtained for JDKZ.
