September 20. f The second reading of the Canterbury Lands Bill has been carried. Mr Potts attempted an amendment, to the effect that the Bill be read a second time that day six months. Several Canterbury members supported the amendment.

The Timaru Board Bill has passed through committee, and mil be reported on Monday. The Public Revenues Bill has passed through committee. Mr Stevens proposed clauses granting land revenue to Road Board districts, on a principle somewhat similar to that of the defunct Local Government Bill. The Speaker ruled that the clauses must be introduced by message. The Government declined to do this.

A survey on the damage done to the wharf by the steamer Otago estimates it at LSOOO.

September 21. It has been announced that the session will close about October 8.

The Treasurer stated incidentally that annual sessions were evils ; he should rejoice to see them done away with.

There is no news as to who is to be the new Governor.

Timaru and Gladstone Bill was passed by 36 to 17. Moorhouse convulsed the House by his criticism of speech made at Christchurch by Mr Travers. The second reading of the Divorce Bill was carried by 22 to 17. Yesterday as the House was adjourning , a message was received from the Governor enclosing Bill, which proposes to make Westland a county. No arrival of Panama steamer. Timaktt.

Wednesday, Great rejoicings to-day at passing of Bill. Bands parading, public holiday, and every place closed. Moorhouse burnt in effigy again last night.
