RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before W. H. Revell, Esq., R.M.) Tuesday, September 17.

Lunacy. — Robert Irons, alias Richard Davis, and Stephen Honeyman, charged with being of unsound mind, were remanded till the 18th inst. for medical examination. Labcent. — John M'lutosn was chargod with stealing a water bottle of the value of "twelve shillings, the property of Eliza Brown. The prosecutrix was called, and stated that the prisoner entered her house on the evening of tho 16th inst. She requested him to leave. Prisoner did so, and took the water bottle with him, and refused to return it when requested. Prosecutrix identified the water bottle (produced) as her property. — Constable M'GHll deposed that, from information he received from the prosecutrix he followed the prisoner down Revell street when he got close to, prisoner took to his heels. He pursued him and overtook him just opposite Weld street. The constable hearing something drop, searched about and' found the waterbottle just at the entrance of Weld street. Prisoner stated that he was under the influence of liquor at the time, and did not remember anything about it ; had he been in his sober senses he would never have taken the bottle. His worship sentenced him to one week's imprisonment with hard labor.

CIVIL CASES.

His worship disposed of a tolerablylong list of Civil Cases for small debts, but they were of no importance whatever, involving no question of principle. The Court was then adjourned till Eleven o'clock next day.
