HOKITIKA FIRE BRIGADE.
The adjourned monthly meeting of the Hokitika Volunteer Fire Brigade was held on Monday evening, in the Fire Brigade Hall, Eevell street. Captain M'Farlane in the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Several accounts were passed, and ordered to be paid. Mr Adams, on the part oftnose throu o\ whose instrumentality the benefit v^^,^ of the Brigade was got up at the i?r'^ cc y f Wales Opera House, was introduced an( j handed to tho Secretary the sum, bf Ll3 Is ■fceis^B^\t ] >ii r dof.the proceed^-; a ft er deducting LG lOa" 2ci expenses^ as per Mr Bartlett's returns. It was then proposed by Mr Buston, and carried unanimously — " That the best thanks of the members of the Brigade be tendered to Messrs Adams, Wilson, Hulme, and South for their kind exertions on the occasion ; also to the Orders of Odd Fellows and Foresters for their patronage. Proposed by Mr Buxton, seconded by Mr Woodsiae, and carried. — " That samples of helmets be sent for to Melbourne. The following new members were elected, Messrs Patterson, T. Cooper, and Conrad Smith. The sum of fourteen shillings was contributed to the members private fund. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
