Gentlemen,— In my hurried note consenting to allow myself to be placed in nomination for the seat in the Provincial Council, rendered vacant by the resignation of T. L. Bright, Esq., I had not an opportunity of thanking the gentlemen signing the Requisition, for their confidence and the honor they wished to confer upon me. I therefore now beg most heartily *> do so, and at the same time wish to express a few of the many reasons for deciding — in obedience to the wishes of a large body of the influential electors of the town — to take the course I have done.
