FENIAN LEADERS CONDEMNED
TO DEATH IN CANADA.

(FROM THE GItET liIVEB ARGUS.) Christchukch, Monday. The Albion arrived at the Bluff on Saturday, at 11 a.m. Left Hobson's Bay at 3 p.m. on the 17th instant.. The Avoca, with the English Mail, anchored in Hobson's Bay at 11 p.m. on Sunday, 16th in9tant. The delay in her arrival was owing to the steamer between Suez and Galle being three days behind time. The following is a summary of her news '.—. — Parliament was formally prorogued to the 20th November. It is the general belief that the Derby Ministry will be ousted on the Reform question, unless they are prepared with a most liberal bill for the extension of the franchise. The Reform movement is being pushed most vigorously under Mr Brights leadership. He aims at the abolition of all privileged rights and ordei's, thereby disgusting all rational and moderate liberals who are opposed to revolution. The Earl of Clarendon is seriously
Two Fenian leaders have been sentenced to death in Canada. The " Times" urges the reconsidera^ tion of the^Alabama claims. Mr Bright has delivered great speeches in Dublin to excited multitudes on Irish grievances. The cholera in London is decreasing. The cattle plague has almost disappeared. The Emperor Napoleon has returned to Paris in rather better health. It is reported that he intends to abolish the usual address in reply to the speech from the throne on the opening of the Chambers, and so deprive the Opposition of the opportunity of opposing the Government policy. M. Thouvenal, formerly foreign minister of Fiance, is dead. B;iron Von Bern, who is personally obnoxious to the King of Prussia, has been appointed Austrian Foreign Minister. It is rumored that an alliance has taken place between Russia and Prussia, while Italy and Austria are in friendly relations. The Pope has delivered two orations, he is prepared to leave Rome if necessary. There are rumors of ministerial changes in France. They include the retirement of M. Fould and Marshal Kawdron. A committee lias been appointed to study the reorganisation of the French army. The French squadron is prepared for sea to bring back the troops from Home.
The P.N.Z. & AIOI. Co.'s s.s. Kaikoura, from Panama, arrived at Wellington, at 3 p.m., on the 23rd. She brings news to the 2nd of November, and by telegraphic cable to the 10th. The political world in England is very quiet, with the exception of reform meetings. An attempt has been made' to assassinate the Emperor of Austria in the streets of Prague. The health of the Emperor of the French is considered very precarious. Mexican difficulties are rapidly culminating, and the case of Maximilian is considered desperate. Vancouver's Island demands responsible government, failing which will apply for annexation to the United States. > President Johnson continues unpopular. The Radical party have an overwhelming majority in Congress. Davis's trial is postponed. The attempt to shoot Francis Joseph, Emperor of Austria, was frustrated by Captain Palmer, an Englishman, who handed the would-be assassin over to the police.
