Way mouth. Temporary Offices. White House, Weld street. I This Company is formed for the purpose of working three acres of ground on the Commissioner's Flat, Kanieri. The several parts of this large block have been held by private parties for more than twelve mouths, who formed themselves into a company called the Commissioner's Flat Gold Mining Company, but after repeated efforts it was found that more efficient machinery than that employed ■would be required to work the ground effectually. The projectors of the present company propose to raise a capital of £2500 by 500 shares of £5 each, reserving two hundred paid up shares for the outlay already incurred in procuring the lease of the claim and the purchase of plant now on the ground, thus placing on the market 300 shares at £5 each. The rich lead of gold now being worked on the flat, and having a depth of washdirt from five to seven feet has been traced up to the ground, and prospects of from -|dwt. to l^dwt. to the dish obtained out of the company's pump shaft at a depth of 21 or 22 feet. But owing to the want of efficient steam power, as already stated, the bottom was not reached by the former company. The plant of the late company (exclusive of the steam engine), the original cost of which was £500, has been purchased by the projectors, so that so soon as a proper steam engine can be obtained the workings will immediately be renewed, and in a very short time a dividend declared. 5764 PROSPECTUS OF THE MANCHESTER UNITY HALL COMPANY (Limited). This Company proposes either to purchase a central and convenient site whereon to erect a spacious Hall, suitable for the meetings of Masons, Oddfellows, Foresters, and public bodies, as also for Balls, Concerts, Lectures, and other public entertainments. In the event of a convenient bite not being procurable at a price within the means of the Company, it is proposed to purchase a building, which, by judicious alteration and enlargement, may be made to answer the purpose for which the project is started. Such a desiderattttn as a really commodious Hall has long been felt m Hokitika, and the promoters feel confident that the undertaking will prove a great success. From calculation based upon very moderate returns, it can be shown that the annual profits upon the Hall will be at least 30 per cent, upon the original outlay. In connection with the public Hall it is proposed to erect a first-class hotel, capable of accommodating members of the several societies and their friends who may be visiting or remaining in the locality, as also for the accomodatio.'i of young rren engaged as employees in the various establishments in Hokitika. It is considered that the hotel should be sufficiently large to accommodate from 4.0 to 50 persons with separate sleeping apartments, together with a proportionate amount of parlors, private rooms, &c. It is proposed to let the hotel to some competent person known to the community of Hokitika, as well as to the colonists generally. Thus, while the Hall would be used for public purposes, the hotel in close proximity, would serve to accommodate those using it. Similar schemes, both upon a large and a small scale, have been found to answer admirably in London, Liverpool, Manchester, and other towns and cities in Great Britain, and also in Wellington, Melbourne, and the colonies generally. When half the shares have been taken up, it is proposed to register the company, and call a meeting of shareholders for the election of Directors, &c.
