Marks &Co. The Kennedy, s.s., Captain Carey, left this port at 9 a.m., on the Bth inst, loaded with 60 tons of cargo and 100 passengers, and arrived at Greymouth at noon. There she landed freight and passengers, and received some on board, and sailed for Fox's Eiver at II p.m., arriving there at daylight the following morning. Through the heavy sea running she was unable to enter Woodpecker Bay until 9.30 a.m., when she commenced discharging, and by 3 p.m. had landed 120 passengers, 6 horses, 120 sheep, and 70 tons of cargo. Left on her return to the Grey at 3.30 p.m., and anchored in the roadbtead. at 7 p.m., crossing the bar next morning. Shipped cargo and passengers, and again left for Fox's Eiver at midnight on the 10th inst., and bronght up in Woodpecker Bay at 4 a.m. on the 11th. Discharged 60 passengers, 30 tons of cargo, and 7 horses, and then pushed on for the Buller, and by noon was moored abreast of Westport. Thereshe landed 20 tons of cargo and 10 passengers, and sailed again at 2 p.m., and arrived at Gibson's Quay at 11.10 p.m. Captain Carey reports that a fair race took place between the Kennedy and Bruce, from Fox's Eiver to Hbkitika, in which the former gained the advantage, as she reached the roadstead about thirty-five minutes before the Bruce. She, however, had to wait for the beacons to be lighted, and in the meantime the Bruce came up, and the moment the signal was made, entered the river, and moored at the wharf ten minutes before the Kennedy. The latter will sail for Fox's Eiver and the Buller this day, at noon. We omitted to mention in the shipping column of yesterday's issue the departure of the schooner Julia, for Fox's Eiver. She Bailed in the forenoon of Tuesday, and was laden with 45 tons of cargo. A telegram was yesterday received from Greymouth by Mr Houghtou, and its contents induced him to infer that tho Julia wa9 one of two schooners which were reported to be at anchor in Woodpecker Bay ye.-uerday morning. The schooner Mary Van Every sailed for Bruce and Jackson's Bay yesterday morning. She took away several tons of cargo and sixteen passengers. We observe by a telegram published by the " Press" that the s.s. William Miskin arrived at Port Chalmers, from Dunedin, December 9, and sailed again for Hokitika at 4.30 a.m. the next day. According to the time of her departure from Nelson, the s.s. Egniont will have, doubtless, arrived off the port daring "the past night ; and as the tide servos at a convenient hour, she will certainly proceed on her passage to the Bluff and Dunedin at tho time specified in the notice published in another column. She ships passengers for Melbourne, transferring them to the p.s. Tararua at the Bluff ; and as the agent (Mr White) has, by telegram, instructed that vessel not to sail until the Egmont arrives, parties proceeding to Melbourne may place full l'eliance upon the arrangements made to forward them onwards. The Bruce departed yesterday for Fox's Eiver, with a full cargo, 50 passengers., 4 horses, and 150 sheep. Weather not preventing, she will return this evening and sail again to-morrow for the Bame pluee, from ■which sho proceeds to the Buller. Tho s.s. Wellington sailed yesterday direct for Nelson, the original intention of calling at Fox's Eiver having been departed from. She shipped 15 passengers at this port. The arrival of the p.s. Lioness may be expected on Saturday or Sunday next, as we arc informed by her agents, Messrs Carey and Gilles, that a telegram received yesterday, stated she was to leave Dunedin to-day. Her repairs were completed somo clays ago, but owing to unusually low tides, she was not able to leave the slip until Tuesday last. GEEY EIVEE. High Water, This Day.— l.22 a.m. j 1.47 p.m. ARRIVED. December B.— Fairy, schooner, from Onehunga. Christina Thopinson, from Melbourne.
