Dunedin, Monday, 2.40 p.m.
The Otago arrived at 3.40 o.m. on Sunday, having left Melbourne on the 4th. She encountered ht-avy southerly gales. A heavy sea struck the ship and washed the crew off the forecastle ; one man's leg was broken.
The Otngo brings later European news. The following is the summary from the "Ar^us" of the 4th inst. :—: —
The Hero arrived from Port Denison on Sunday, at 6 a.m., bringing dates from London (telegraphic!) to October 27 ; Galle, November 5; Penang, November 10; Singapore, November 12 ; Batavia, November 17 ; and Cape York, November 28.
