RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

DscKK-KKMiae. — Antlrcw Grady aud John Eddio were charged with this olfcncc, and respectively fined ss, in default of payment twenty -four hours' hnprieonincnt. Nn«A>'CE. — Henry Bctts (a colorod man) and Andrew Slcpnoy wcro charged with dopositing rubbish on tho llokitika Beach. This being thoir first offence they wcro each fined 10s, iv default of payment twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Lahoeny. — John ll'Laughlin and Thomas M'Mahon wero placed in tho dock, charged with the larcony of a ham and quantity of alo of the valuo of threo pounds, and their guilt being clearly established they were respectively sontenced to two months' imprisonment with hard labor. Lunacy. — William Rollings was charged v ith being of unsound mind, and upon tho application of Inspector Broham, ho was rclnanded for medical examination.
Vaqiukcy. — Thos. W. Koraoy (on remand) was again brought up on tlio chargo of attempting to impose upon a private person by misrepresentation. Several witnesses were called for the accusod, but they failed to put in an appearance. Ilis Worship sentenced him to fourteen days' imprisonment with hard labor, at the samo time remarking that ho might consider himself fortunate in having escaped with such a lenient sentence.
