RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

(Before G. G. FitzGerald, Esq., R.M.) Monday, BTovember 19. Drunkenness. — Peter Cameron was charged with this offence, and, the same being proved, was fined in the sum of ss, with the usual alternative. Disorderly Conduct. — James Williams was charged with disorderly conduct, and also with destruction of Government property, and, both charges being proved, was ordered to pay L 2 3s for the property destroyed, in addition to the fine imposed by the Court, or in default of payment forty-eight hours and four days imprisonment for each offence. Attempted Suicide. — Wm. Jno. Cairns was charged with attempting to commit suicide hy poison, but in consequence of the evidence tending to show that he was under the influence of liquor he was discharged ; his "Worship intimating that he rendered himself liable to a committal if the charge had been substantiated. Larceny. — James Keely, charged with larceny from the person, of L2B, and also of a watch, of the value of L 4, was, at the request of Inspector Broham, discharged. vagrancy. — Albert Kaison was charged with vagrancy, but the prosecution being unable to prove the case, ho was discharged. CIVIL CASES. M'Convey v. Hunter. — His Worship delivered judgment in this case in favor cf plaintiff in the sum of L2O, damages and costs. Morgan v. Joyce. — Mr Harvey addressed the Court thereon, intimating that the day of heaving fixed in the summons had expired before the return to the same had been made, and he requested that the Court might name a day for the hearing of the summons. His Worship said, that as the day appointed for the hearing of the summons had expired, he could not grant a renewal of the original summons, and would, therefore, recommend the issue of a fresh one. The application was, therefore, refused. There being no other business, Court was adjourned till 11 a.m. to-morrow (thia day).
