Reports from various districts speak highly of the prospects of the crops. The trial of J. Mellor's side-delivering mowing machine took place yesterday, in the presence of Sir D. Daly. It was very successful.

Mr Eeynolds carried in the Assembly to day his resolution that Government should invite the attention of neighboring Governments to the desirability of arranging free and unfettered interchange of colonial productions, and that proposals should be made to such Governments for the adoption of a uniform tariff as regards the Riverine trade. The corn markets are still without animation. Small sales of wheat have been made at 4s 3d. There is no change in flour. November 1. Mr Townsend has given notice of a motion in the Assembly, that it is desirable to stop immigration at the public expense for six months. A. Stow has been elected for Flinders. The mineral leases of the Kanappa Mining Company realised at auction L 205. At the Government land sale to-day L 3600 was realised. The English mail is to be sorted on board the branch steamer for the future. The Assembly has refused to sanction the establishment of tollbars on the port road. The cargo of sugar, ex Mayotte, was offered to-day. 2500 bags were sold at an advance on last rates for yellovvs and browns — white crystals, L3B to L3B 10s ; yellow counters, L 33 12s 6d to L 36 ss : browns, L 27 to L 27 12s 6d. The corn market is still very dull. Wheat is nominally 4s to 4s 2d ; flour, LlOtoLll without transactions. There was a most remarkable thunderstorm last night. The lightning was intensely vivid for several hours, with but a. few drops of rain. Sales of wheat were effected to-day at 4s 6d The time for receiving tenders for a ship to proceed to the northern territory expired to-day, but as yet no tender has been accepted. November 2. Major Warburton returned last night, having failed to explore the north-western county, owing to the want of water. No rain had fallen there for three years. Mr Reynolds has given notice of motion in the Assembly for a committee of enquiry into the working and efficiency of the Public Works office. The quartei'ly report of the inspector of sheep is more favorable than the last.

The corn market is without animation. Wheat, 4s Id. There is no change in flour.
