EARTHQUAKE IN THE NORTH ISLAND.
A very severe earthquake has been reported to Dr. Hector, Director of the Geological Survey of New Zealand, by Mr Mair, RM. It occurred on the 22nd and 23rd, at Mount Edgecovnbe, in the Province of Auckland. It was accompanied by terrible thunderings. Some pumice and gravel cliffs, forty feet high, crumbled down, and the earth opened, leaving fissures five feet deep.
