VICTORIA.
In breadstuffs sales of flour have be'on' confined to supplying trade requirements, at Ll4 lOsfor best Adelaide town brands. Country brands are without difficulty moved off at Ll3 to Ll3 10s. In wheat we hear of a parcel of 1200 bushels of Adelaide having been quitted at about 5s 9d ; at auction some 9000 bushels, a 1 portiou of the Enterprise's cargo of Chilian, found buyers at prices ranging from 2s 'lid for very' badly damaged, to 4s Id for slightly damaged. In oats there is nothing new to report. Sales of barley have been effected at rather low rate's, to encourage purchasers to come forward more freely. Maize is firm at 4s 7d to 4s Sd ftfr parcels. Hops are enquired for. A parcel of fifty pockets, 1865,, was placed in a lino, at a price withheld. We quote from Is 9d to 2s, according to quality. We hear ofoi shipment of 200 cases of oysters having changed hands in bond, at a price sustaining quotations of 10s to 10s 3d. Sales of mess pork are reported at L 7 ., Kerosene oil is firm at the advance established, 3s 4.Yd. , No sales are reported, but we learn of several parcels being now under treaty. A,huudred tons of coarse salt, disposed of in the bay for export, realised equal to L 4 iv Melbourne. In liquids, sales of outside brands of bottled stout have been made at 83 Common port wino has besii sold at L 22 ; enquiries, however, are not brisk. One or two parcels of Bass's No. 4 bulk ale, row landing, have been- placed at L 7 10s to L 7 12s 6d. Currants have advanced to sd, which ia now obtained, though this figure is only paid as yet by needy buyers. Quarter sardines meet with a ready sale at 6s 3d. At auction, some 350 packages tobacco were ofl'ered for sale. . The aromatics realised Is to Is 6d ; the balance, however, consisting principally of twist, was withdrawn. Some 1900 bags of sugars, in faulty condition, were quitted at -prices which cannot be considered a test of the market. The lumber, ex Gem of the Ocean, brought (all faults) LlO 12s 6d to Lll 2s 6d for white pi-ie shelving; and T. and G. flooring was sold at L 8 2s 6d to L97s 6d per 1000 feet. The Look-Out's cedar was disposed of at 17s to 26s per 100 i'eet. 80,000 slates, ex Baden, damaged, were disposed of at LlO to Ll6. — " Argus," 13th iust.
