MR GREER AND MR WHITE.

(to the editor of the west coast times.)

Sir, — Permit me, through your columns, to [congratulate Mr Frederic Greer upon his having at length found an opportunity to pour gut the vial of his vengeance upon my devoted head Having been bottled up so long it must have afforded immense relief as it oozed out from its corrupt source. I trust that the wound is now purged of all its foul matter, and will speedily heal up, and that Mr Frederic Grecr and myself will, as of yore, be fast and firm friends. I do not think that the respectability of the West Coast Times, or of the "Evening Star" has been , enhanced by the part they have taken in bringing about what I trust will be a lasting reconciliation between my dear Frederic and myself. However, the end perhaps justified the means. I have one favor to ask of you, Mr Editor, and that is, that should any other of my friends panegyrise me a la Frederic, you will be good enough to request them to draw it mild, for I»can't stand flattery. Please tell Frederic that my nose is pronounced by the family doctor to be progressing all right, and that I hope his jolly rubicund " pug " may long be spared to cheer the hearts of his friends, and make their eyes water. With many thanks to your contemporary for the space he so kindly devoted to me in his last night's paper, Believe me, &c., &c, Jomr White. 1 P.S.— Please tell Frederic that I will attend to him when I've done with t'other party. J. W.
