Monday, October 8.

Dbuitk and Incapable. — John Ilowclis, John Wood, William Philips, and Ihomas Bonn were each fined os, or in dofa»U 2-1 hours' imprisonment.

Druxk and Disobdurly. — Henry Wilkie and Robert Bryson were fined 5s and 15s respectively, or in default 48 hours' imprisonment with hard labor. An additional fine of Ll, or 4 hours' imprisonment Was inflicted upon Bryson for using obscene language in a public place. D-usr.imoi*. — Edward' M'lutosh wascharged by Captain Oshorno of the Isabella, with deserting from that vessel on Friday morning, the sth inst. It appeared that the captain had heard the prisoner saj', that when they got into port he would leave, and had cautioned* *him against so doing. Whilst the crew were below on Friday morning the prisoner left without the knowledge or sanction of the master. Prisoner „ stated that he left with the mate's permission, and that the captain was on deck, and saw him leave the vessel. This was denied by both the master and mate. ' Prisoner also alleged that the captain, on two different occasions, had kicked him in the presence of the mate, which was also denied by both the officers. The Magistrate sentenced him to one week's imprisonment, remarking that if he had been ill-treated by the captain he had his remedy, but was not warranted in running away from his ship.

James Oldham was charged by Constable Rowley with frequenting a publicplace, with intent to commit a felony. The constable N stated that he had arrested the prisoner at the Scandauavian rush, where he had seen him loafing about for a week. Several complaints having been made by the storekeepers that he never did any work, but was constantly prowling about. Sergeant Dyer also deposed to prisoner having been convicted, twice in the Greymouth .Court, and sentenced on one occasion to four days' imprisonment, and* on the others to a month's." L mcEXY. — Gregory Laleth was charged on the information of Demetrio Nussitich with the larceny of money, amounting to six pounds, and certain articles of wearing apparel Mr Harvey appeared for the prisoner. The piisoner was about being removed, but Ti-as again placed in the dock' with the prisoner Aldridge, on the charge jaf robbery oi' revolvers from the Camp. 'The same' application was made by the police, and granted by the magistrate. I have never heard of such a thing, nor of such bail." The,prisoners N were remanded till the 17th in&tant. \ - LARCEXY.-^-'John Acheson Carr, on remaud from the 29th ultimo, was also remanded until l he. 17th instant at the request of the police. The same bail to be taken as in the case of • the last two prisoners. Resident Magistrate. — I may state that in all these cases if the witness Sullivan is not sent down shortly -I will liberate all the prisoners on their own recognizances. CIVIL CASE. His Worship gave judgment this morning in the case of Kenned}' Brothers, v. Well, heard on the sth iustant, when he reserved his decision till to-day. Judgment was given for the plaintiff for the. full amount claimed — L 92 7s, and costs. The Court was then adjourned until eleven o'clock to-morrow (this day).
