MAORI RESERVE GOLD MINING COMPANY.

A meeting of the above Company was held yesterday at^Messrs Rees and Tyler's' office, Wharf street, Mr Rees being voted to the chair. The minutes of the last meeting. were read and confirmed, when the following gentlemen were duly proposed and seconded, as provisional directors : — Messrs Higs<ins, Rees, grosser, J. C. Clarke, Martin, M'Gonhun, Shaw, H. Williams, .Bright, Cassius, J. R. Anderson, J. Collins, D. Lynch, Q. Williams, Learmont,. Manuel, John Ryan, and Edwards. The manager stated he had employed three men, who conimenced preliminary operations on Tuesday morning He likewise produced a sketch of a water-wheel, the probable cost of erecting which, and having it in working order would be L 250. Mr Clarke suggested steam power, and Mr Martin a tail-race, as being the. best <■ and cheapest means of working the grouhdi Both suggestions were fully disi-ussed, when Mr Clarke pro nosed, aud Mr Martin seconded — "That the manager call for tenders for cutting a tail-race from the present workings to the river : such tenders to be in by Monday, the Bth inst., at half-past 2 p.m.' 1 Carried. The meeting was then adjourned till half -past 2 p.m. on Monday, the Bth inst., to be held at Messrs Edwards and Mader's Criterion Hotel.
