BRISBANE.
Via Sydney, Thursday, Sept. 20. On Wednesday evening the Assembly passed the additional Customs Bill, the
only alteration being that the ml valorem duties are fixed at seven and a half per cent., the exemptions being the same as at Sydney, with the additions of machinery, fencing wire, steamers, and sailing vessels. The Custom-house was closed to-day, pending the passage of /the bill. The Assembly also passed resolutions for stamp duties, and the Issue of the Treasury Notes Bill was read a first time. Tliu second was fixed for Friday riext.
Friday, Sept. 21. Last night the bills authorising the issue of Treasury bills and Treasury notes were passed through all their stages. The new issue Treasury bills amounts to L 300,000, two thirds of which are to be'deposited in the Treasury as security for convertible Treasury notes, to be issued to the extent of the Treasury bills and gold held in the public coffers.
