PUBLI.C SCHOOLS.— A party of gentlemen having formed themselves into a committee, are engaged in promoting the. establishment of a School in connection with the Chujfch of England congregation in this town, 'and appeal to the members of the Church and other friends for subscriptions in aid of this object. They have been able to secure a suit- , able building for a School-house, and hope also to be able to purchase or creet a sn.all cottage as a residence for the Teacher. This will entitle tho school to a grant for its maintenance from the Board of Education, with which it will be connected. To enable the Committee to carry out this work, a sum of not less than £100 is at once needed. They confidently believe that this small amount 'will be readily raised in this town, from those anxious to see •an efficient school t permanently amongst them.
