HOTEL MUSIC ON SUNDAY.

(TO TUB F.DITOH OS THE W£9T COAST TIMES.)

Sir, — Passing an hotel in Revell street, this evening^ where dancing is nightly carried on tnroughout the week, I was astonished to hear music being played ; for although tho selections were from an oratorio, evidently the object was to draw the attention of passers by, and thereby induce them to enter the house (the sido door being wide open) for the purpose of driuk. I presume secular music would not bo, permitted on the Sabbath, why, therefore, should sacred be allowed, with the object so apparent ? I am, &c, A Town Kesldent. Hokitika, September 23, 186 G.
