Writing on the^morning after the battle^ the same correspondent says : — " The Austrians retired partly -to Par'dubilz, partly to the forests of KonigraJz ; and it was anticipated that,' huddled together in crossing the few bridges over the river, they could \u caught by the Prussian civalry, and that their army .would be nearly ;• but they had taken the wise precaution to throw seven or eight bridges across the river, and get across the stream by night without severe loss.
