FIGHTING IN BAVARIA.

Some of the interest which attached to the great military operations in Bohemia has Deen transferred to Bavaria, where some sharp fighting has been going on since the 3rd and 4th of June, between the Prussians and Bavarians. The first encounters took place near Fulda and Meiningen, when two divisions of the Bavarian army, the 3rd and 4<;h, were engaged, and suffered a loss of between 1000 and 1500 men. The having followed u.p their successes, entered the Bavarian territory, and on Monday last a fresh encounter took place at Bruckenau. The Munich " Official Gazette" states that the Prussians were repulsed, but it appears from the report of the same journal that the battle was renewed .on the following day (the 10th), and fought with more" determination than any of the previous ones. The following is the report, as contained in the "Bavarian Gazette" of Wednesday :—: —

"An obstinate engagement has taken place near Kissingen. The Prussians attacked the bridge over the Saale from the right bank. They were driven back several times by discharges of grape. Shells fell into the town, and the belfry of the church and the Town Hall were struck, and the hotel known as the Cour de JBaviere was destroyed by the cannon balls. The troop^ are full of courage ; the infantry fired admirably. The reserves have joined the army. Since lin the afternoon no further telegraphic news has been received from Kissingen, which is explained by the proximity of the telegraph office to the building struck." A second despatch adds : — '' No details h.ave been received concerning the combat at Kissingen; but a despatch from Schweinfurt states that "the result was favorable to the Bavarians, who repulsed their op- 1 ponents." It would appear, therefore, that a battle •of some importance was being fought on Tuesday in South Germany, and probably had not terminated when the foregoing despatches were forwarded.
