Dentil was not instantaneous, as he. lingered several h >urs afterwards, and in the meantime, in answer to questions, sifted tUat lie dreamed somebody waff st-ibbine; him, ....jnd on awakening found that he had donesajnndvertently. lie afterwards contradicted himself, and complained that his "Rend was \vrbug and that life .was a burden to him. The.unfo-tii-na'e niaa died at 1-0 p.m. the same zii^ht. There being no coroner for the district, the ' police helc^an enquiry upon lhe body, and the conclusion arrived at was, that the deceased had committed suicide. His ivmaiii« were decently interred by his mates and others. The new drapery establishment of Messrs Hanson and Co., Re veil street, was opened loir business on Monday last, and, to appearance, is certainly most handsome, and second to no other structure of: the kind in Hokitika.
