In provisions., a hand-to-mouth business has bien done, and pi-ices are rather, if anything, a shade lower. Hams and bacon, first brands Is 7d to Is 8d per lb., the demand being limited. The supply of butter having been augmented by late arrivals, 'prices ure a shade lower, prime samples 2s 41 to 2s 6d per lb. Owing to advices from Melbourne of the fall in prices of candles, there are no buyers, and quotations therefore remain nominal. The lato imports hare had some influence on the price of wines and spirits, more especially the In Her, the tendency being downwards. Henn 's.Vs and Martell's brandy have been placed at, i)i Gd to 10-s and 9s to 9s GJ per gallon, respective!}', in bond ; other brands, s)s per gallon. Good port wine continues in fair request at about last week's quotation".
